Another reminder of this is my favorite quote from Mark Twain:

“I was gratified to be able to answer promptly, and I did. I said I didn’t know.”

For men, being OK with not knowing is not OK in this culture. We are supposed to know, and covering up for not knowing leads to all manner of pathologies. If more of us could be OK with not knowing — especially men in positions of power over others — cultural shifts could be profound.
