Demonizing individuals does indeed avoid paying attention to systemic failures of 'capitalism'. And, to say that exploitation is "...forced on people by the conditions and forces of the market" ignores where those "conditions and forces" come from.
"Conditions and forces of the market" do not arise out of thin air. People define and enforce those conditions. What people? The ones with the power to do so, at any given time. Who are those people?
In our current society, those people are the richest most powerful 'capitalists'. As the wise Penguin has already pointed out, those people make conscious choices to perpetuate a system they have the power to change.
This is a both-and mess we have made. To pretend there's no connection between 'capitalist' exploitation of many by few, and the explicit and implicit power those few have to behave differently, is to excuse the behavior of those few.
