Fascinating that there's nothing here really about cultural differences, or the Finnish culture itself. As if where to retire were just a matter of finances, climate, and real estate. Of course for too many USA citizens who have the privilege to choose where to retire, that is all it's about.
As the grandson of an immigrant from Finland to the USA, I have been there many times to visit family - grandpa had seven siblings plus lots of cousins - and am familiar with my relatives' daily lives. I suggest that this piece tells you almost nothing useful about what it would be like to actually live in Finland - for even a few months, never mind all of 'retirement'. It might work out fine. But I suggest a prolonged visit with a backup plan, before any final decisions are made.
