I never got into so-called “social media.” Partly because there are so many more interesting enjoyable ways to spend my time. When I peer into that subculture via friends and family engaging with it, I really don’t see much I’m missing. Anything really relevant, I hear about through other channels, or look up for myself. I don’t have trouble staying in touch with actual real-world friends through other means.

Partly because the exploitation and manipulation of people’s personal interactions, and their content, for corporate profit are not something I will personally support by using such platforms.

Partly because I was in the computer/tech world before the web or corporate-owned social media existed, and the dark side coming seemed pretty obvious — but that’s another story.
