Thanks, I'm familiar with the attempts to monopolize parts, service, and repair via software 'bricking' by various companies such as John Deere, Tesla (and most all auto manufacturers), HP (and most all printer manufacturers), and lots of other devices and/or physical media via the DMCA legislation. My point is that 'consumers' (better regarded as citizens) need to take active roles in pushing back. Mass disobedience, class action suits, outright boycotts, supporting open source/platform alternatives, and so on. Just whining about evil corporations or failed regulators is not enough, because the regulators are mostly in the pockets of the corporations.
