The paragraphs about Germany/Germans are mostly hilarious. At least, to my USA born, half German heritage, spent some time in Germany mind they are. And, the style of the humor is entirely non-German, and seems likely British deadpan but maybe could be French by-accident funny.

Also, I was looking for a wrap-up somewhere on who the barbarians are, but I take the piece to mean the British, French, and Germans. And probably the Scandinavians (other half of my heritage) too. I have previously read your piece where you say you don't like to have a thesis, so maybe that is part of it.
