What you wonder about here is simply how it was, before 1998. There were no hard-on pills.

And, men and our male-centric society were no less erection-obsessed and performance oriented before 1998. Women's pleasure and women's desires around intimacy were no more important. If these pills vanished tomorrow, the effect on those long-standing social norms would be right around zero.

What the pills have done is amplify our pre-existing cultural biases. Changing our culture will take a lot more than the pills going away.
