Yeah, that would come under the general category of "don't voluntarily walk into burning buildings"...

I never got into commercial social media. I was online before commercial "social media" existed - and the internet was very social, the platforms were BBSes and forums and listservs. None of them were monteized because back then the internet was actually about connecting people, not about using proprietary platforms to monetize people's connections. Also because the internet at that time was not commercialized. The platforms were free and open source because that's what the internet was built of (except for some government/military bits that were kept secret...).

I watched the naming of "social media" as the commercial platforms started up. The evils of Farcebook were evident even then, but with a sucker born every minute, there were plenty who signed up anyhow.

I enjoy a good campfire, but "social media" is not a campfire. It's arson with malice aforethought. What we used to call "flame wars" back in the day would look like no more than the last flickers of a small candle compared to what people do to each other on "social media" now.
